The short answer

Understand what is causing your knee pain, adjust aggravating activity and build a suitable exercise plan. If patellar tendon support is appropriate, consider the Hypnaven strap.

01

Start with where it hurts

Stairs, walks and getting up from a chair can make knee discomfort hard to ignore. But the same activity can aggravate different conditions. Pain just below the kneecap can occur with patellar tendinopathy; pain around the kneecap, inside the joint or after an injury may have another cause. Location is a clue, not a diagnosis.

02

Turn down the load that provokes it

Temporarily reduce activities that make symptoms worse, such as repeated jumping, deep squats or hills. A wrapped cold pack may help short-term discomfort. Choose manageable activity and ask a physiotherapist how to build it back up; pushing through worsening pain is not the goal.

03

Match the support to the area

A sleeve wraps a broad area of the knee. A patellar strap applies local pressure over the tendon below the kneecap. Think of broad compression as a “sledgehammer” approach and a strap as a focused tool: a comparison of coverage, not proof that one works better for everyone. Weighing the two? Consider Hypnaven as an added support

If a clinician has identified patellar tendon pain and considers a strap appropriate, the Hypnaven patellar support strap is an option to explore. Patellar straps may ease symptoms for some people during activity. Response varies, and this page does not establish a clinical benefit specific to Hypnaven.

05

Build strength alongside support

A strap cannot replace a rehabilitation plan. Gradually progressed strengthening and managing tendon load are central to patellar tendinopathy care. A physiotherapist can help choose exercises, set a starting point and adjust the plan to your response.

06

Let your response guide the next step

Follow the product’s fitting and use instructions. It should not cause numbness, tingling, skin irritation or more pain; remove it if these occur. Less pain while wearing a strap does not mean a tendon has healed or that you should increase activity without a plan.

When to get help

Seek urgent medical advice for severe pain, an inability to bear weight, major swelling or deformity, locking or giving way, or a hot, red knee with fever. See a clinician if symptoms persist or the cause is unclear.

A few useful answers

Will a strap cure my knee pain?

No. A strap may help some people manage symptoms, but it does not establish a diagnosis or heal the underlying condition. Clinical assessment and rehabilitation may still be needed.

Can I wear it all day?

Follow Hypnaven’s verified product instructions and your clinician’s advice. Do not assume all-day or overnight use is appropriate. Remove it if it causes discomfort or circulation symptoms.

Does more compression mean more relief?

No. Tightness is not a measure of effectiveness. Follow the fitting guidance, and stop use if you develop numbness, tingling, irritation or increased pain.
